An update. She just bought an NC10 for someone else and says that is 1000 times faster - so the problem can't be the wifi or broadband speeds. She says the N110 is unbearably slow, so much so she doesn't want to use it. I have got her to check it actually says there is 1GByte of Ram and it is 1.6GH...

There are USB filesharing cables that connect computer to computer. Haven't seen those for a while though g'luck!
