My TV and Netbook. So happy together...

Postby Jason on Sat Feb 14, 2009 12:54 pm

Portable computing isn't new to me, I've had laptops for years. I've had my HP Mini for about 2 months and I've noticed something different about my mobile computing usage with the netbook versus my current laptop (Dell Latitude).

Commonly when I'm casually watching TV my netbook is in front of me as well. How about you? I (did) barely use the Latitude on the couch...

It saves me a trip to my desk when I want to look something up on IMDB!

On the other hand, I sometimes just watch TV online on my iMac. My TV is a 26" tube type, so my 24" iMac screen isn't really much of a downgrade, especially considering I can watch stuff in HD. If we didn't have game consoles on the TV, we'd be tempted to just ditch it since we can watch almost all of our shows online now anyway.

When watching TV I usually find myself having my netbook in my lap. This is because I usually use the Mini 9 while sitting on the couch and just happen to have the TV on! However despite my preference to being online over watching TV I don't see my computers replacing my 52" LCD anytime soon! A PC powered media center connected to the TV would be nice though!

Like mainer I also usually use my netbook (or laptop) and watch TV at the same time. Even when I am into a show or movie I still almost always have a portable computer nearby!

I'm still waiting for someone to come along with a "I don't have a TV..." vote!

I have my 14" lappie when I watch tv. However, in bed, the 9" nettie is easier to handle...I watch tv with a sleep timer each night...

That's the only nine inches I'm getting in bed. ba dum bum chhhhhh

Ha! My unit weighs 2.5 pounds, is 8.9", gets quite a bit of attention wherever I take it out and lasts 3 hours!

Has anyone ever connected a USB tv tuner to their netbook?

Nope! I don't know how well that'd work performance wise. I'm not that risky!
