ideapad S12

Postby nahtanoj on Mon Jul 13, 2009 7:40 pm

So i read the ideapad s12 has the nvidia ion graphics processer. Of course im lookng to purchase a netbook with gaming capailities at the time and recently saw a video on the asus n10 playing COD4 wich amazed me. Theres one problem, when i go to order the s12 the spec page has no mention at all of the ion grapahics proceser.

Did i miss something? if the ion gp comes out later will i be able to buy it seperatly and manually install it? What is the ion capable of running game wise (civ 4?)

I may have skipped over recent articles but please help

When i looked at the s12 model page it showed the graphics chip of each one and none listed showed the ion.

When you look at the model breakdown it shows the graphics chipset. According to the site they have no ion based netbooks at all. I wish i knew where all the reviewers where getting them.

None of the S12s are currently coming with the ION option. According to reports the ION S12 will be available in the 4th quarter of this year, presumed to coincide with the release of Windows 7.

Probably not much. Its also my understanding that it will cost significantly more and wont do near as well on battery life. Someone may know better but from the snippets i have read here and there its honestly not that appealing except for those that want to display HD content and even that will likely be held back by the wimpy atom.

I wouldnt get your hopes up for any real gaming on a netbook.
